Volunteer Opportunities

Our Nourishing Hope Marketplace program will resume again in January, starting from Jan 8, on every Monday and Tuesday. We will be very grateful if you still have time to volunteer with us!! More details are as follows:
Date: Every Monday and Tuesday (Ongoing until March, 2024)
Time: from 7:30AM till the end of the market (around 12:30/1PM) [The start time could be 8:30AM if you prefer)
Location: 100-290 E 1st Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1A6 (Food Stash Warehouse)
No. of volunteers needed : 1-3
Requirements and qualifications:
- Consent to TSA submitting a Criminal Records Check (There is NO fee for this check)
- Be able to communicate in English
- Above the age of 19 (Volunteers under the age of 19 must be accompanied by their legal guardians during volunteering)
- A genuine interest in helping the families in need
- Good listening and communication skills. Being patient, respectful and understanding.
- Maintain confidentiality about all personal information
- Carry out the position in a conscientious, courteous and safe manner
- Have cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Be able to lift and carry items up to 50lbs
- Sort and pack food
- Perform as a Personal shopper to assist families in need to select food and grocery items according to their needs and preferences
- Assist in setting up and cleaning up
- Be able to lift and carry items up to 50lbs
- Perform other NHM related duties as assigned by the NHM food manager
- Please note that it is quite hard to get a free parking spot there. You may have to arrive 15 minutes earlier to search for parking spots. Therefore, volunteers are strongly encouraged to take public transit if possible (It is around 13-minute walk from the Science World Skytrain Station to the NHM location). Thanks a lot for your understanding.
[This is an on-call position for volunteers who cannot commit all the dates required for the NHM program. If you apply for this role and accepted, our Volunteer Coordinator will notify you to see if you are available to volunteer with us at the NHM on a specific date.]

Time: from around 6:30 to 9:30AM (around 3 hours)
Location: Multiple locations (You will meet our colleague at our temporary office first – 998 19th Ave E Vancouver, BC V5V 1K7)
Requirements:
- Hold a valid driver's license (You will be asked to provide a copy of your Driver's License)
- Clean Driving Record (Please obtain the Driver's abstract from ICBC https://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing/getting-licensed/Your-driving-record)
- In good health and be able to lift and carry items up to 50lbs
- Consent to TSA submitting a Criminal Records Check (There is NO fee for this check)
- Be able to communicate in English
- Above the age of 19
- Carry out the position in a conscientious, courteous and safe manner
Major Duties:
- Drive The Salvation Army Vehicle
- Assist our driver in picking up and delivering food
- Be able to pick up and deliver items individually as needed
In need of an on-call volunteer driver 🚘️
We are in the process of creating a group of on-call volunteer drivers as we foresee the necessity to pick up and deliver food and grocery items from various locations.We are seeking drivers who can be contacted on short notice during weekday mornings and are comfortable with being reached at any time of the day. Most of the volunteer shifts are during weekday mornings.
All volunteer drivers are required to:
(1) Successfully submit a criminal record check (This check does not incur any fees)
(2) Provide your driver's abstract
(3) Possess a valid BC driver's license (Class 5)
(4) Attend an interview
Duties:
- Drive our company's vehicle or assist our driver in lifting/carrying items up to 50lbs
- Pick up and deliver food and grocery items to various locations
- Pick up donations such as school supplies, furniture, backpacks as needed
- Tasks assigned by the office
Time Commitment:
- Very flexible schedule
- We are seeking drivers who can be contacted on short notice during weekday mornings and are comfortable with being reached at any time of the day.
- Most of the volunteer shifts are during weekday mornings.

Boundless Vancouver is delighted to provide volunteer opportunities to all age groups. All applicants under the age of 19 must be approved by a guardian. We may require adult (parent or guardian) supervision while volunteering.
Volunteer shifts tend to be upwards of 3 hours. You are more than welcome to contribute more!
Our volunteer shifts are based on operational needs,
availability of the volunteers, and seasonal event requirement.
Yes, each volunteer will receive training and orientation specific to their volunteer roles.
Wherever possible, volunteers will be given opportunities to attend workshops/seminars relating to the volunteer's area of interest for further advancement.
